life of the party
Well, I’ve slept some and should hopefully be more coherent now.
I wanted to do a quick post this morning since I have dinner with D.Billy tonight (I fear NY tacos will be disappointing in the afterglow of SF.) I saw this lamp on Design*Sponge yesterday and could not stop thinking about it. A friend pointed out it would be wholly inappropriate 90% of the time, but I think as a secondary lamp it could be amazing; any time you turn it on adding a kind of textural light to a simple space. It’s like the mullet of lamps—business in the front, party in the back… Or outside/ inside if we’re technical.
In case you aren’t rocking a mullet, or donning a leisure suit, I’ve added Reiko Kaneko‘s Ovankgol Table which is also truly beautiful—infusing a touch magic (levitation!) to any setting.
I think that’s really what is done so well in these pieces; She’s taken something rooted in tradition and almost reserved feeling and given a little whimsy, or in the case of the Dapple Light (the disco lamp) a little moxie!
I LOVE the table. The lamp, not so much, but at the same time, yes I do like it. That makes a lot of sense now, doesn’t it!
No I know, when I first saw the table I was like: MINE!
But that lamp? Brown chicken, brown cow. I just think it would constantly make me smile.
