sheep’s clothing

Drassanes is a metro station in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella built in 1968. It was recently redesigned by Eduardo Gutiérrez Munné and Jordi Fernández Río, the 31-year-old partners of ON-A. Accepting the limitations of the project they decided to cover the existing station with new surfaces. Creating a simple, but amazing transformation:

I think people often feel the need to tear something down to create something new. Considering the amount of waste that creates, the wealth of new materials available these days, and the results that can be rendered (see above) maybe it’s time we shift our thinking. Sometimes things just need a little life breathed into them.
