The LA Times “remembers when smoking was cool” by posting a pretty awesome collection of matchbooks—Definitely worth a look. As a designer I kind of miss collections like this, all those tiny things painstakingly created to have their own distinct personality—Art for brand credibility. I keep trying to think of the modern equivalent, but nothing comes to mind. Anyone have any ideas?

Love Love Love match books/boxes. I found a stash of really old ones in an Ohio Hospice shop (like Goodwill, but for Hospice)… it was like $2.00 for 10 of them and they are a design GOLD MINE… I need to find more! Keep up the great blog, I love reading.

I swear we are on the same wavelength… I was just at the LA Mart and found this collector (whose name I now can’t find…) who is all about old match boxes, soap boxes, etc., and I was in heaven. I’ll send you his name if I find it, you’d def like what he was about.
