tiny little boxes.

I grew up in a number of houses. One being inside a development. Luckily the development allowed different types of buildings leaving it with a unique neighborhood feel. I like homes to have personality. And I understand that if you’re building a bunch of houses it’s hard to source and create originals each time. When creating Sluseholmen, a development consisting of eight artificial islands and 1,000 new dwellings on a Dutch canal, more than twenty Danish facade architects were hired—with one charge: variation. The architects used different building materials and individual window types, sizes and placements to keep the project from looking cookie-cutter perfect.

Yay individuality(ish).
